2 years and a Million Dates

In a couple of days the boy and I will celebrate our two year anni and as a gift I got these heels from him. They're from Iron Fist and are called "Million Dates". Which in my opinion is just perfect :)

Shoe Shopping

While I was out buying a birthday present for the boy I stopped by Zara and lucky me, managed to score two pairs of heels. Those who know me know I can't resist a nice pair of shoes and when there's a sale involved, I get sucked right in. What can I say? I'm shoe addicted.

Mr. Trusty

I've never been driven by common sense when it comes to fashion. I like my heels high and my bags small. But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to get by and so I finally caved in. Yeesh. I bought this here bag today:

It's a backpack. I haven't worn a backpack since middle school. But when you have to carry around a ton of book, your laptop and essentials, you start to think about your options. I envision more comfortable uni days, when my back isn't hurting like hell and my bag isn't popping in its seams. This baby will hold all my crap and still be chic. I'll call him Mr. Trusty and he'll better serve me good.

Hair Hues

I talk about change. I want to change. But do I change? Not much. Maybe little things. Like my hair.

I like to change my hair a lot. It's like a Madonna thing without the great stylists and hair dressers. Definitely a danger zone occasionally. But sometimes I get things right. How it turned out the last time, well, let's just say I'm not completely convinced. But it's not all bad.

Walking Mr. Piggy (not shown) this morning.
I changed my hair color sometime last week (or the week before? time blends...) and here's me being all casual on my morning walk with my pig. I haven't been "face on" here on the blog in ages because I feel ridiculous taking photos of my own head but it was a must. I might need to get a camera ready friend to join me on my walks or something. Speaking of neediness, I'll be posting summer Files of New in the next few days. There was a lot of stuff I "needed" this summer. Till then, xoxo, Veronique

Dear blog,

how are you? We haven't spoken in days and I've missed you. I've been on vacation in the mountains and it was nice, though mountains aren't really my thing. We got back on Saturday and after a bit of a break on Sunday, I've been trying to finally tidy up the flat. Let me tell you, it's more work than it seemed! I've bought tons of boxes for storage and still need a few more! But I'm sure the result will be worth all the effort. We might finally have room for a photo-spot in the flat! Fingers crossed.

I'll definitely show you the end result when I've finished but until then I'll leave you in the hands/hooves of Mr. Piggy.

Yours,
Miss V

shoes shoes shoes

A few days ago the boy & I went to a bar near our flat and given that it was close I opted to wear a crazy pair of heels. These are I love shoes leopard print open toe wedges and are rather surprisingly comfy considering their height. I wore a new dress I got that day over at Topshop and my trusty Zara leather jacket (purse is from Mango, headband Topshop). I felt like a princess. Of course, I was very OTT for the bar but so what. I reckon that if you have the dresses and the shoes you should just go and wear them. If you feel good in what you're wearing you will look good as well. That's my golden rule...
And of course there was more shoe saving to be done this week... Top left - today's outfit: Reserved dress, NYer flats; Top right - Zara women mini-wedged sandals; Bottom left - Bershka studded sandals (love these!); Bottom right - Asos cut-out lace-up shoes (so so uncomfortable! They literally cut into my feet, ouch!)
Last but not least, here are shoes I saved ages ago and I've already posted them here but then I played around with my phone apps and I really like how the pictures look. Skirt is by Motel, jelly flats are from Gate. Notice the piggy below. Btw, I have a few things planned for this here blog, so if you haven't given up on me just yet, stay tuned. I'll be on vacation next week but when I get back it'll be bigger and better here. Or maybe just the same. Who knows, but I will most definitely be blogging more, I've made a time management plan and all. Till next time, xx, Miss V

A Pair of Blue Jeans

I bought this pair of jeans about two weeks ago in the Mango sale. I love it when Mango has sales - the prices drop so much it's unbelievable! Anyways, as is custom with new items of clothing that feel 'just right', I have been wearing them almost non-stop.
Zara brown wooden sandals, Atmosphere summer wedges in pink
PPQ for Office wedges

Lately I have been enjoying the sales, reading all kinds of books, thrifting as much as possible, watching re-runs of old X-files, thinking about the essays I still have to write and getting ready for my pending vacation. It's gotten a bit cold on us here in Prague but it's still summer enough and I'm trying to get the most out of it before our very short Autumn rolls around and then as if in the blink of an eye Winter shows up. There's stillso many pairs of shoes to get through! But you know me and I love a challenge. So stay tuned, xx, V

My first Vlog!

Hi guys, I thought it would be interesting to make a vlog on the way home from shopping/dinner with the boy today. Let me know what you think, if you like it, what to change etc. I know it's not the best video, but I don't have a video editor on my PC and so it's literally just what I captured with my phone while walking home. I just thought it'd be another step forward for this blog to post a video, so that you could hear my voice and get to know me a little bit more. Anyways, here's a close-up of the shoes I was wearing:
Vivienne Westwood for Melissa
And here's a picture of the shoes I bought at Zara today (*I already wore them! Right after coming home I changed into them to walk Mr. Piggy)
Would love to hear some feed back about the video so please don't hesitate to comment or to send an email, see ya!

Everyday Shoe Saving

Guess what? I'm still saving shoes. I haven't uploaded too many shoe saves this time around but I'll tell you this - I'm still saving shoes. It's what I do. It's what I love. I currently have 308 pairs of shoes in my collection and have worn 150 pairs. Which means I'm half-way through the challenge. I haven't been as good at taking photos this year but for me, that's not the point of the challenge. For me the whole thing is about getting wear out of my shoes. Not just buying but also enjoying them.
Because I usually don't have the energy to lug my camera around I just take photos via my phone. But my phone cam is a bit unreliable and in the wrong light takes incredibly crappy pictures. So I don't always snap up the shoes I wear. I'd like to make a nice corner in mmy flat for taking pictures but my flat is TINY and is always crammed full of stuff. Not sure how that'll work out, but we'll see. Till then I'll just stick to saving shoes for myself and occasionally showing you a mass shoe saving post like this one.

Mighty Dracul

Yesterday I turned 25. To celebrate and to help out some friends in promoting their festival - we filmed this short video of the building of the festival and Dracul having a good piggy time :)

Enjoy!

Returning home

Yesterday evening the boy & I got back from our London holiday. It was a nice trip, though there was rain almost all the time. I'll be sharing photos soon but until then I wanted to show this quick snap that was taken outside of one of the restaurants we ate at. There was the sweetest doggie ever.

He either fell in love with me or just loved to cuddle. He was really just perfect!

*One of the down points of my trip: I ended up losing this scarf on the first day I wore it! This is the only photo of it I have. Poor scarf, I'll miss you. Was kinda bummed but at least it was a thrift find and wasn't expensive... Still, I hate losing things!

Wearing: H&M shoes, H&M mini skirt, Zara leather jacket, thrifted sweater, Dunlop bag, H&M tank top (which you can't see anyways), Asos watch and earrings (Mr. Mustache!)

Favorite Places

Today I'm home, finishing up a translation seminar paper and fighting off the beginning of a cold. As I stare longingly out of the window and look at the wonderful sun shine, I think of my favorite places. There are quite a few I have in Prague but I'll just mention a fraction.
The park of the way from work
There is this tiny tiny park on the way from work to the tram stop home. It's a lovely place, though in the colder months can be quite dangerous (it might not look like it from this picture, but it's super steep!)
Divoka Sarka park
You might remember this photo from the first of May - the boy and I took a trip out to Divoka Sarka. I just adore this place. It has a nice peaceful feel to it but is still in the boundaries of Prague and not too far from the center either.
Spicy chick pea soup at home. This is probably my favorite soup. What can I say? I'm a chickpea gal.
My flat. It's tiny, it's rented, it's usually a mess, bla bla bla, but I love it anyway.
The view from my flat
One of the things I love about the flat is the view. It's literally breath-taking. I adore this little space I call home. I know I'll have to move sooner or later but still, for the time being, it's nice to call it home.

That's all for now, talk soon, xox,
V

It's been a while...

I know, I know. Each time I come here after godknowshowlong and say the same things: sorry, uni work load, exams, will try harder next time etc. And believe me I really do mean it. BUT then come the everyday troubles of a university student and I just set the blog aside. So anyways, I still have a few exams to finish up but I want to (try to) give more time to this here blog.

For starters I thought I'd recommend a nail product I have been using for the past two weeks or so:
It's a nail hardener by Douglas and I bought it because I stopped wearing fake nails and after acrylic nails your real nails are really thin and frail. And then they tend to break and look horrible so you go back to the fake nails. But I don't want to do that anymore. I've decided to break the cykle by sticking with what I've got and making my own real nails stronger and healthier. It definitely means more maintenance (filing the nails almost daily, adding the nail hardener, no biting!) but I'm willing to bet that if I stay with it till the end, it will pay off.

What do you use for your nails? Any suggestions?

Shoes etc.

This is kind of a random post - a few new things I've acquired lately and a few you've seen before but that I love very much. Above is my new Zara white lace dress that I completely adore. I had been stalking it in store since it came out, but they only had it in S or L and L was way too big. Then it was sold out completely but luckily they got a new shipment of these dresses and had one in M... so obvi it was destined to be mine. Otherwise wearing my trusty Topshop school-girl bag, a cropped fake leather jacket courtesy of Stradivarius and Asos mustache earrings. And a side braid - the easiest most no-fuss hair styl, which I have been wearing basically ever since my hair grew long.
Mis-matched Melissa shoes. The first time I wore these was for the EBEW black and white challenge - btw I haven't participated in EBEW for too long! Hopefully I won't miss the next challenge. Also below you can see a better view of the lace of the Zara white lace dress... LOVE it!

A new favorite: a Motel pleated skirt (via Asos); gold sparkle jelly flats
Blue Q clutch bag. Such awesome print! (French lessons!!); Maybeline coral nail polish
Asos Madox yellow lace-up flats. A lovely bright yellow shade. I love happy shoes.
And last but not least my new pair of rain boots (they're by Fulton and have a cute Scotty dog print and were mega on sale over at Asos). I've just finished typing an essay that is due today and am getting ready to have dinner and a movie with the boy, so toudolou,
xox,
Miss V

Lift your spirits

I was just over at one of my fave blogs (I have quite a few of those btw) and was reading up/watching some pretty neat videos of graduation and pre-wedding happenings. I must say – besides being incredibly moved by it all and wishing all the best – I am a tad bit jealous. Here I am in the middle of nowhere (okay, so in the capital city in central Europe but still) and I’m struggling in my second year of uni, completely unsure with what lies in my future, my computer has an attitude problem, my bank account is deep in minus, my pig is huge, my boy hates my pig, my Asos orders keep arriving with items missing – so I’m having a bit of a low. Of course, I know that there’s so much to be thankful for but sometime those things can be hard to see. There's the big things that we tend to take for granted - family, friends, health... and then there's the little things - a trip to the zoo (will be posting pictures soon!), a spiked Asos headband that is somehow gentle but with an edge, matching mis-matching sandals (I love having more color variations) and last but not least (in today's list) an icon that inspires (I adore that massive book shelf). Yup, I'm feeling better already!

 * Asos headband, Asos mustache earrings, Zara lace dress
*French Connection sandals (blue pair bought in Dubai, red pair courtesy of Asos.com)
*Uncle Karl says read. Such a perfect photo.

Sunglasses Refashion

I am a bit of a hoarder.. and sometimes I collect things that I don't get much use out of. For instance, I have quite a few pairs of sunglasses that I don't wear but am reluctant to give or throw away..

Solution?

DIY with stickers!

These are from Asos and in theory I love them, but in real life the frames are a bit too thick. Two little hearts help soften them up a bit...

These are from H&M and are super old but I don't like the thought that I'd throw them away only to go and buy a new pair of pink glasses. And everyone should have a pair of pink glasses.. one tiny heart on the side and they feel like new again!

I found this pair of glasses, I'm sure there's a story behind that but all I remember is that I found them, and they got hearts on both sides.

Last but not least: elbow patches for glasses - okay, maybe not but to me it looks like a pair of elbow patches no? Glasses from Asos, new, but thought they needed something..
 So cute!

Anyways, the moral of the story is: don't be afraid to experiment by adding a special unique touch to accessories. I'm usually not shy of a pair of scissors or gluw but using stickers is a safe way, cause you can always remove the sticker if you don't like how it looks. (Unless you use super glue..)

Everyday Veve

More of what I've been wearing lately -- above: comfy Asos sandals + my favorite green nail polish, below: Asos Lamp-post t-bar flat with cute heart print, polka dotted flats and Topshop gold quilted flats

Uni exams and life in the works

Lately I feel as if my time has been cut in half -- no not like in the sense that I'm dying or something, but rather that I have shitloads to do and so so so little time to do everything. It doesn't help getting sidetracked by tons of blog reading and looking at shoes... Speaking of shoes though..
Outfit I wore like a week ago to the pub: Ted Baker jelly sandals, Pull&Bear red leather pants, Zara tee, Zara sweater, H&M tank top, Stradivarius pink bag
Some other looks I've had on lately -- Zara beige pants and H&M tee for a casual day at work with Dorothy Perkins flats; H&M dress, Topshop tights, Zara belt and Zara leather jacket, Office Word Wedges (love them buckles!); Pull&Bear jersey skirt, crochet tights and H&M quilted flats in nude.

I'll show you a close up of the last pair:
I love how the nude matches my skin tone. Also I have to fess up -- I've been almost only wearing flat shoes lately. With hectic shedules and running about town carrying heavy books around, it's hard to have the patience for heels. I love me heels but sometimes comfort does win over fashion. So I treated myself to (well the boy treated me to) a pair of lower heeled open toed wedges in a nice solid green. Wedges are almost like flats! It's the little things in life that count;)
