Wish List

I am so so behind on my Christmas shopping, it's starting to worry me. Usually I already have the majority of my gifts either bought, made or at least planned but this year? So far, I only have one gift bought and a few thought out and that's it. It's a nightmare. I mean, gift giving can be so hard with some people. For example, I never know what to give my brother or my father. On the other hand, there definitely are people that are super easy to buy gifts for, like my mom or my sis. I am also one of those 'happy-with-everything' people. Plus if anyone didn't have a clue, they could simply check out my blog. So, in honor of the holidays and gift giving, here is my current wish list:

So with me, it basically comes to a few favorites. I love shoes, books & animals. Sadly, I don't think I'll be getting any new animal pals but if I could choose, I'd definitely pick this little guy:

OK, so I don't actually really know what animal this is (some kind of rat?) but goodness, isn't he so cute? Here's hoping. But realistically, I wouldn't mind some Melissa shoes:

The Dreamed by Mel Melissa Raspberry pump is a shoe I have been lusting after for a while now and would love to have. I really like the black version with the red heart or the nude version with the black heart. I also wouldn't mind the flats version - especially the black on black ones. So pretty. But honestly, I'd love almost any Melissa shoes. Definitely one of my most favorite brands!

Speaking of favorite brands, I wouldn't mind some shoes from Irregular choice either! I just checked the Irregular Choice website and there are quite a few shoes I found myself interested in...

"Another Lost Weekend" - such a cute name for a shoe and I adore that little brooch on the bow.

"Carpe Diem" - I love a sparkly heel. And the kitsch factor of this shoe. Sharks!

"Marshmallow Mountain" - I have a thing for slouchy boots and for marshmallows.

"Mosatccio" - some sparkle and a mustache;)

"Oz" - love the shoes, love the name!

Quite a nice pair of boots right? A bit simple for IC but I like them nonetheless. They're called "Party Pants".

"Wisker" - love that little kitty!

"Mary Elizabeth" - such interesting boots.

I was a bit surprised that Irregular Choice have their own wedding collection of shoes because I hadn't heard of it before but it's been a while since I've been to their website and all. Anyways, I really liked these two pairs:
"Love & Magic" - such lovely detailing!

"We Found Love" - these are exquisite. Love the shape and that beautiful flower.

Phew, this is becoming a super long post right? Sorry, but I really love IC and couldn't narrow it down. Now, I'd get on to the books but I know I couldn't keep that list short either, so it'll come up in a different post (or you can check out my amazon wish list). That's it for today, see you tomorrow with some shoe saves.

Read or Dead

This will definitely be the last post of today - I just felt that I had some making up to do for being m.i.a. since monday. Anyways, I thought I'd share a few current reads of mine. Starting with a book I just started and finished reading yesterday: Cecelia Ahern's "The Book of Tomorrow". Now, those who know me know I'm a big Ahern fan. I love how her books take the reader to a magical place and anything can happen. "The Book of Tomorrow" has that typical fairytale spirit of Cecelia's books and I enjoyed reading it. Though it won't get onto my list of top ten favorite books, it is worth while and I definitely do recommend it. (I even bought it for my sis for Christmas - I read mine via my Kindle btw.)
Next we have Chuck Palanuik's "Haunted". The boy had read this book first and then he bought it for my brother for his bday and ever since I was dying to read it too. So I downloaded it online and well, I'm about half-way now and to be perfectly honest, I'm a bit dissapointed. I'm a Palanuik fan and all but this book just makes me depressed in a way, it is a perfect example of what' wrong with people - by this I mean that the way the characters behave is sad and pathetic. Some of the short stories are chilling and all-in-all it IS well written it's just, I dunno, I expected more haunting and less people just being nasty? But still, if you are a Palanuik fan, I'd say this is a must..
Last on today's book list is Cat Townsend's "Breaking the Rules" which is a sequel to "Sleeping Around" - Cat's first novel. I really enjoyed reading her first book so was thrilled to finally get my hands on the second (living in Prague definitely has it's down side to trying to get foreign books..or at least whilst being on a budget.) However, it is a tad dissapointing as she is missing her ex half the time and well, I kinda got bored and so have stopped reading somewhere near the middle of the book. I might try to finish it later and hopefully it could pick up a bit but truthfully, I don't expect it to.
Anyways, that's all for today folks, time to put my hair down and all that, xox, MsV

Christmas spirit

Family, friends, free-time, frenzy.
Giving, getting, gingerbread.
Memories, mistletoe. Christmas carols,
cookies and milk and staying in bed.
Food, fun, fairytales, fares,
with those fireplaces lit.
Snowflakes, Santa, sleighs.
And all that jolly bit.
Gatherings, gifts. Reindeer.
Candy canes.
And hoping that it snows
not rains..

And so much more. The spirit of Christmas, the joy of a winter wonderland, it over takes me completely. I love Christmas. Everything about it. Even the horrible corals that you can hear just about everywhere this time of year. One of my favorite things about the winter holidays is the gift giving. As a child, it was ALL about the getting, but alas as one gets older, things turn around a bit. Some of my favorite gifts to give are books. As you can see from the picture below, I'm giving out some books this year. Bought K the comic version of Se7en and some spooky story books, my sis a collection of Yeats poems (my favorirte is "Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths ..." - I'm thinking of getting it inked on the inside of my arm, where there's room next to the Buddy portrait), my bro one I'd love to borrow off him once he's finished but I'm not saying which in case he reads this. Parents are hard to please (last year I had gotten them books but this time around I'm going for more "useful" gifts): Mum some things she can use around the house (a gardening watering pot and a kitchen mitten) and an anti-wrinkle night cream, which I know she'll like, Dad a bottle of wine. I got Buddy the biggest pulling/chewing rope they had (though still not decided on if to wrap it or not), K the cuttest pinkest Piglet stuffed animal toy they had at Sparkys, a pair of bright blue Dickies pants (they're back, wouldn't ya know). My girlie's these beautiful wooden heart shaped frames and some happy little nothings just to show I care.. Might be getting some finishing touches tomorrow while going on our annual shopping fun day with my sis (we go every year on the 23rd). Anyways, enough of my ramble, wishing you all super sweet holidays and plenty of love and joy.

Lusting after..

As a happily coupled gal it's been a while since I've done a lusting after. Mainly because there was no space for other wants besides matters of the heart. Now, as things are slowly setting into place and a hopefully calm and happy era shall commence, I take this time to bring you another fashion filled lusting session. Wedges and hoods. OTT-ness to the extreme. Hot. Over-sized furry coats. This is what I'm saying. Definitely on my wish list. Among other things. On a shopping update, bought a lovely bright red winter coat, lush. And is exact same shade of red as new ADIDAS hold-all, so am now Miss Matchy Matchy and loving it loads. Stopped by H&M and bought two dresses, both in a rather holiday spirit. Shiny! Plus one over-sized black cardi. You can never have too many.. Also fed the literary beast and bought some books have been l.a. for ages (the first of Kathy Reichs' - Deja Dead, a collection of Yeats poetry - containing my favorite "Had I the heavens embroidered cloths.." - thou planning of giving this to my sis for X-mas, a book of spooky tales for my hunny and one I think my bro will enjoy). So have a few x-mas gifts checked off the list with still a few to go. What are you getting your loved ones?

The more you have, the more you need:)

Typical, isn't it? You'd think after all the shopping I had done lately, the beast would be set to rest for at least a little while. But alas noooo. I want more, I need more! So although my bank account is in a state of shock at the moment and is nervously waiting for pay day, I am still looking for a couple of things to cross off my list e.g. a good book to purchase. I want something to enjoy during this last week before uni starts. Was gonna go with Kathy Reichs's Deja Dead but the store didn't have it (there's basically only one huge book store in Prague where you can get books in English, there's millions where I could prolly get it in Czech but if I have a choice, I prefer to read teh originals..). Also am craving some new jewelry to play around with. Re-watching Bones at the mo so am very inspired by Tempe's style, her earrings in particular. Also need some thick tights for autumn and some hair pins. Anyways, almost late for a coffee date, so gotta run!
