Leisure.

When I'm on the net with nothing to do I surf thru my fave sites: amlul, bleachblack, asos blog, the fashion police, fashiontoast, confessions of a shoe girl and much and many more.. and also Elle's shoe diary. Results are in!

New hair today. Feels AMAZING. So needed the change!
Instead of boring old peroxide blonde I'm now the sofisticated golden girl.
My sun-kissed locks give me a playful wave to ride and the tide is high..

A tearful farewell.

The last issue of one of my favorite glossies, Yellow, has just come out. It's so sad to see this magazine go, not only was it a truely "Czech" mag, filled with all kinds of useful tips and info but also my best friend worked there://

Lusting after..

How completely rad is this Alexander McQueen clutch?!!

The double French braid.

More on the braided look. So perfect for summer (stays in place and off the back of my neck). Althou to be honest. this summer is looking more and more like autumn.. night time in particular. And my hair's still a little too short for the exact style I was going for, so this is just the next best thing. Anyways hope you've all have a lovely weekend!

A braided summer.

Okay, so what do Mary-Kate Olsen, Lindsay Price, Hayden Panettiere, Natasha Bedingfield, SJ Parker, Drew Barrymore, Lauren Conrad, Diane Kruger, Anne Hathaway and Nicole Richie have in common? Besides being all fabulous, they love summer braids! Now I'm a huge fan of these hair styles. (As shown in last week's summary, the french braid is an occasional look I go for.) For one thing, it ups the hair style without being too dificult. Also there is such a variaty of styles, the options are almost endless. You can go from being romantic to edgy rock chick. Sofisticated or boho chic, you decided where these braids will take you. As for me (and my look for this evening), I'm going for Richie's split in the middle double-french braid style. Expect pictures during Sunday's week summary!

Topshop.

Everyone has a favorite brand, right? Mine change as I go along.. a while ago it was Zara, then Stradivarius, was flirting with Bershka for some time but all in all it's Topshop. It's always been Topshop. I LOVE Topshop. (There's sadly only one in Prague and I live there.) I cannot get enough of Topshop. There's pieces of course that I just shake my (still very) blonde head at and take no further notice but on most days, I am enchanted. I am in La La Land. And I soo cannot wait for their fall collection to be out and about!

Just click on the images to enlarge them.

I would style the pieces a bit differently but I love each and every one. The Trench! Fab! That damned mini, bliss! Love love love the leopard details (but would get rid of that ridiculous high pony tail). That scarf, the coat and the lace-ups! Pretty pretty!

So, what's your favorite brand?

Summer lovin'

My favorite scent for the summer.

A light, refreshing scent, unisex, a natural clean fragrance that manages to keep up with the trends yet still remain a classic. A zest professing personality but at the same time identifying an unique group of people, e.g. "We are one". (This campaign actually becoming a bit hit.) The aroma is a mix of musk and fruit, the bottle of the perfume is apparently supposed to resemble the flask of a Jamaican rum. Now that's as sweet as it gets;)

New Hair therapy.

I've decided to change hair color. I'm thinking more natural, healthy-looking hair. Kinda like Peaches Geldof on a good day. The three images of her above are just about what I'm going for. A sort of darker golden blonde. D day should be sometime mid next week, stay posted for the result!

Fall a coming.

It's the end of July.. It's the end of July for goodness sakes! I haven't even been on my vacation yet but here I am, fed up with this summer and already thinking of the perfect fall look. I hardly got to wear all those new sandals or summery mini-dresses (most were lucky if they had been worn once) and I know, I KNOW, there's still some summer left, but I feel I must face the inevitable, fall's a coming.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm still daydreaming of sunshine friendly wedges and how I'll wear that Zara maxi dress come the right moment. Oh and musn't forget the straw tote bag and the huuuge sun hat.. Last but not least my new bikini! (Which I'll prolly only wear during my holiday, since sadly, no beaches in Prague as of yet.)

But just like every other year as August waits right behind the corner and I'm another year older, I start thinking about autumn. I have so many ideas for this upcoming fall.. mostly staying near and dear to a sort of bohemian/ geek meets rock chick style. I've already bought the most adorable sweater poncho with a little knitted rose at the collar. Now I just need the perfect LONG leather gloves (length wise reaching my elbows) and traditionally, boots. Every damned year I look for that one pair to put the others to shame.

Givenchy. These would be perfect. Bloody perfect. (If, of course, they weren't open toe.. or so bloody expensive.)

Week summary #2

Trying out a new hair-style (perfect for summer btw).

Breaking up in my Topshop "boyfriend shirt".

New Bershka platformed strappy sandals.

Wearing the Drop Dead Wedges.

Dance therapy at the boat party. Wearing nautical H&M mini-dress, Vero Moda tote bag.

A better picture of the dress.

In all honesty, my week was a tad hellish or at the very least it was very much on the up and down. The ups consisting of trying new hair-style (e.g. 1st pic, the french braid), getting hair dyed, some shopping and the boat party, ehm, will get to that part later. The down however were a bit worse. Breaking things off with Angel, going on the worst date in history (so so bad, so SO bad), thus getting completely drunk afterwards with a friend, being oh so hungover and at a loss of interest for almost everything and now thinking about all of it and wondering what will come next, huh. Anyways, back to the boat party. Red bull vodkas and 80's/90's czech music. Which was all actually better than I expected. Then at about 2 a.m. decided to drop by Harley's and ran into Angel, akward, akward encounter. Danced all night with his sleazy friend and then sodded off home. Finished watching season 5 of Grey's Anatomy (pissed about the way it ended actually. Hate hate hate when seasons end in uncertainty. Will it be Izzy or George?!), took part in a family lunch and turned off my phone and finally had a relaxing night at home or a change...

So that was me, how bout yourselves?

Restaurant recommendations..

It's rather tough finding a place that fulfills all of my expectations. What really matters to me is:

1) location location location (I mean, you can find the perfect little restaurant somewhere but if it's fucking far away, you're not gonna be going there much are you?)
2) the actual food (you're there to eat, right..)
3) the servis (if that's bad, there's really no point in returning. Lately there's been a trend in Prague of moody waiters, uggh, get over yourselves. With this sort of attitude you're so not getting tipped.)
4) restrooms (I like big mirrors, good lighting, that kinda thing;)
5) price (this one is a bit tricky, because if all the other points are attended to, the price ain't gonna be too low. But I still believe in reasonable pricing.)

Thus, places I like to go to for lunch: pizzerie Matylda near the hospital where I work, Jiny Stav, U Regenta, Kulovy Blesk. Okay, so it's all near where I work, cause like duhh, where else am I supposed to eat my lunches. Next time tips from all over Prague, promise.

Story of O.

To bring you your weekly helping of literature, I would like to introduce The Story of O. An erotic novel published in 1954, breaking boundaries then and now. O's story is of dominance and submission and although I'm merely at the beginning of the tale, I must say, I'm intrigued..

Written by French author Anne Desclos, under the nom de guerre Pauline Reage, as a series of love letters to her lover Jean Paulhan, who wrote the perface "Happiness in Slavery".

Will surely tell you more when I know more, like I said, I'm at the beginning, people, hang in there. Btw, any of you read it? Or anything of this sort? Thoughts? Tips? Oh and I'm reading this book on my way to work etc. while taking public transport and I've been getting strange looks, huh.

It's my birthday!!!

Best things about it being my birthday:
  • It's on a Friday this year.. yessss!
  • Can be all crazy today and just explain by "Hey, it's my birthday!"
  • Can be all annoying today, har har.
  • Spending the day with family and friends!
  • GIFTS!
  • Being a year older and wiser for sure.
  • Going shopping!
  • Birthday cake!!
  • Champagne!
  • Did I mention gifts? ;)

Okay, here's my guide to perfect b-day gifts:

  1. almost anything when it's from the heart. But shopping with the person helps;)
  2. amongst my fave b-day gifts belong: BOOKS (nothing beats a good book), parfume (okay, parfume actually does beat a good book - if I can pick it myself that is), jewelry (who doesn't like getting jewelry?), make-up (I love new make-up, I can't help it), movies, clothes, etc.
  3. adding a nice card does wonders
  4. ohh and alcohol's is the best "don't know what else" gift.
  5. a b-day cake shaped like a gift. RAD.

Side-Swept Hair

Either as the slightly wavy glamour take (what I've come to fall in love with) or as the 90's grungy version. Side-swept hair is so the thing now. Pictured above: Chloe Sevigny and Peaches Geldof, the Proenza Schouler's S/S 09 show and Georgia May Jagger with friend. My styling of the look is a bit toned down, but once the lenght of my hair reaches longed-for footage, it'll be a whole nother story;)
