Deadline!

Oh no! I totally spaced on one part of my Master's degree application - I was supposed to hand in my MA thesis along with my grades list, ops - the deadline is tomorrow so I've been working away today. I've decided that my thesis topic will be fashion and literature of the Romantic period and the Victorian era. I think that could be fun. Anyways, I'm kind of bummed out that I have to wake up early and go to uni in the morning and queue to see my academic clerk and then go over to our branch's office to hand in all the documents. What a drag! I had planned on taking photos for the blog today but obviously, I was short on time so that didn't happened. Instead I'll show you a photo of what I had for lunch, because it was very tasty and also very healthy.

The Veggie salad: contains cucumber, cherry tomatoes, a mix of salads, arugula, pine nuts, balsamic and some olive oil. Basically you just wash everything and then chop it up and voila, it's done. I'm thinking of starting a cooking blog but more on that some other time. Oh I have one more recipe I want to share. I found this online and am dying to try it:

The alternative to fries:

Instructions: cut a sweet potato almost all the way through, drizzle with olive oil (or butter), add some sea salt and pepper over the top. Then bake at 220°C (425°F) for about 40 minutes. Looks pretty good right?

A special Files of new

Today has been a special hectic type of day. I woke up before 6 a.m. and had gone to sleep late, trying to solve an installation problem on my new computer. Anyways, I went to see my hairdresser and am super happy with the result. My hair feels good, it looks natural (well, the color is a dead ringer for my own hair color so I guess that shouldn't be a surprise!), I won't have to color my hair so much and I got a blow out and I love blow outs.

I got home, had some lunch (potato mushroom soup, so good) and got down to business. I had to contact my school but unfortunately that didn't come to the conclusion I was hoping for. Then I contacted Microsoft support about the installation issues I had been having. The guy on the phone was HORRIBLE. Not only did he obviously NOT understand computers AT ALL but he also had an attitude problem. I think he was just pissed off that he had to be working but still, that's  no excuse.

He sent me some links that were complete crap and then he said he'd call me back in two hours to give me time to go through the links. It took me about ten minutes and still my problem remained. So I went to the US website and contacted customer support via the chat and was connected to Marc, who was just divine. He connected to my computer and in no time found the problem and solved it.

So I'm very happy right now. Very tired too and should be doing school work but I need a break. By the way, I do want to mention my outfit. Sorry for the blurry photo, I was in a hurry to have lunch haha. How do you like my new hair color?

Anyways, I'm wearing my H&M pink coat, pink pashmina, H&M studded bag, F&F thick tights (it got cold again), River Island boots, pull&bear cardigan, Angel Eye London dress. I felt good in my outfit:) and even better as I was leaving after getting my hair done. Oh And I haven't forgotten about the lipstick challenge it's just that I wasn't wearing any and so I'm skipping this week and will resume the challenge next week. (I never wear make-up to the hairdresser's - just a tiny amount of foundation and some cheek stain and that's it.) Anyways, my new computer says hi! He's white and so cute that I named this post after him...

Tumbling Down a Steep Hill

It's early, well relatively. It'd be early if it was the weekend and I had a lazy day ahead of me. But it's Tuesday, I should already be out with the pig and getting ready for school. Instead I'm drinking mild coffee, downloading a textbook to my kindle and of course, saving some shoes in the shoe challenge. And I'm also very tempted to watch the latest Bones episode, but I think I should wait until after school.

Shoes saved: Zara Collection leather brogues
Where/ when: Saturday, pig day* (I wore these to my parents' house, we took the pig so we could wash him, and then to the animal day festival I mentioned in a previous post.)
Wearing: Mango jeans (these are favorites but sadly they seem to have really paled in the last wash even though I turned them inside out and used a special washing detergent for black clothes), H&M grey & black tee, Zara button up sweater, H&M coat, vintage bag.

Mr. Pig was very tired after his long day. I love spending time with Dracul but sometimes it's hard since he can be difficult and people - strangers we meet - can get seriously annoying. Like at the animal festival day thing, our pig club had a booth there and so we stopped by to support them. All of a sudden there was a huge crowd and people were just touching Dracul without asking and even some parents were telling their kids to go pet the pig (even if the kid in question had some food in his/her hands. Besides this being totally stupid behavior, it's also dangerous. Hello, it's a pig; a live, perpetually hungry, semi wild pig.) I don't mind people petting Dracul if they ask and if he's in a good mood (because he's a very social animal and luckily likes contact with people and enjoys a good back rub), but I find it very strange when people just assume that it's okay and don't ask.

I was also disappointed in one of the members of our pig club (and I don't mean about the argument a friend had with the boy, I'm talking about someone else). She fed Dracul food without asking and was giving him a lot of food. I don't mind the feeding part but when there's food and someone gives him food then he gets all excited/ crazy. We then had to leave because if someone would have then came up to him to pet him, he'd have been all crazy and then might of even bitten someone. Not that he did, but it could have happened.

This Saturday is another pig club day, which we have to go to since it's a vet meeting and Dracul needs his hooves shortened and he needs to get his vaccination. I hope it goes more smoothly and that there are no problems this time. Anyways, back to the shoes. These are a pair of older brogues I bought three winters ago in the post Christmas sale. They are perfect and I love them. Soft leather, nice detailing, pure comfort shoes. You can see when I wore them previously (though I don't always post about it, I wear them quite a bit) here (my favorite), here and here.

Stolen From Myself

If you don't already follow me on instagram, you are missing out. I regularly post photos there from my mundane life:) The picture above is from last Friday. I wore a Zara dress, Zara fake leather jacket, Stradivarius studded bag and Vagabond wedge shoes. Oh and an Asos studded headband. It's new and I really liked wearing it. The book I'm holding is "Nightmare" from Lars Kepler. I haven't had much time to read it but I'm already half-way through and am enjoying it.

I modeled at this year's Hell Party. That's a voodoo doll I'm holding btw.  And this is the only photo from this post that wasn't on my instagram. I had a different one there...

The boy & I and some friends went to the botanic garden on Saturday. I has this whole "skull party"thing going on (Skull literally having a party t-shirt from Topshop, Skull pants from Iron Fist, limited edition cat ears headband Asos, Zara bag, River Island shoes, Asos tooth earrings.)

Sunday it got cold and I got to wear my fake fur half-poncho thing. I call it "the mushroom". (Sisley fake fur mushroom thing, Sisley sweater, Zara miniskirt, leopard print flats, Marc B for Topshop bag.) I posed on the way from the boy's parents place by the empty trains at the train station near our flat. I love trains.

Anyways, that's all for now. I'm off to read that book! See you soon.

On Repeat

There are so many things on my mind right now. I have, as usual, a ton of things I should be doing. But instead it's like I'm in hibernation mood. Literally. I just want to lay in bed with hot sweet tea reading my favorite books and watching the LBDs. I'll be honest and admit that I skipped school on Monday, luckily a class got canceled yesterday and today I stayed home because I was feeling very under the weather. So yeah, I've spent the day reading but instead of reading books I've been swept away by fanfiction.

And it's gotten me thinking about relationships. And what people expect out of relationships. And why real life can never really be like the fairytale versions that we can only dream about. I mean, I'm in a relationship that I'm quite happy with. We have become more than just boyfriend/girlfriend, I think we've become best friends. But the point is, and yes, there is a point, as "perfect" as it is or as it can be, there will always be ups and downs. We're human, we're real, we have misunderstandings. For instance, we don't agree on the pig. He thinks I should get rid of Dracul because Dracul destroys our rented flat, whereas I would hate myself if I got rid of a helpless animal that I myself acquired.

But what I wanted to talk about was fanfiction. Yes, fanfiction. I think I might be addicted. Remember when I mentioned the Lizzie Bennet Diaries? Well, the show is ending tomorrow (although there will be another season based on the Pemberley miniseries) and I've grown very attached to it. With Lizzie and Darcy finally getting together, it's nice to read some romantic fluff stories about when could have happened and could in the future between my favorite couple. Yes, I am a bit obsessed with Pride & Prejudice okay? But to keep face I must mention that I am centering my BA thesis all on Austen's P&P and all the various adaptations :) (and there are loads! Did you know there's a Bollywood version?! Yeah. And a pretty good Dutch version...)

Anyways, here's to my favorite fictional couple & long live fanfiction, xoxo, Miss V

Yaddy Ya Ya

Sorry it's taken me ages to write. But life has been wintery and boring. We went to see the house - it was not what I was expecting. Way too close to the road, in need of a LOT of renovation and the garden wasn't too pretty. So now I'm thinking maybe it's better to buy a flat. Somewhere relatively close to the city center. Or maybe right smack IN the center? That would be pretty cool.

The boy found a really awesome flat right in the center - but of course it's not in my budget (it's about a million crowns over the limit). So that would be a no. But darn it, I don't want to settle! I want to LOVE the place I will live. I want it to be the home of my dreams!

Okay, I'll stop whining now. On a plus note, an Asos order I had been waiting on arrived.
The boots are gorgeous BUT the fit isn't right. They're a tiny bit too small and I can't get the zipper to close. I'm debating with myself if I should keep them/ return them to Asos or try to sell them. It's a hard decision. Because I hate returning anything and I'd have to pay for shipping which is super annoying. So I think I'll try to sell them via aukro or just keep them. Maybe I can wear them without the zipper closed?

Anyways, I'm off to a work seminar and then have a very busy weekend planned full of boring studying, going to the pub and family lunches. See you soon, xo, V

Adding to My Plate

Besides worrying about uni and my career, I am also worrying about where we're going to live. The lease on our flat is slowly ending and it's definitely time for an upgrade. Though I do like it here, it's way too small for us and I'd rather pay a mortgage than pay rent. Sadly, buying a home can be very stressful (all that paperwork! And most importantly, finding the right place...).

My dream home would definitely be a house. I grew up in a house and I'd want my kids to do the same. And it would be perfect for Mr. Pig as well. I'm not completely against an apartment, but it would have to be huge to make me happy. And apartments in Prague are expensive!

So the boy obviously wants an apartment nearest to Prague center and I want a house and wouldn't mind commuting a bit. We've been to several apartments so far and nothing has been a match to our requirements. But next week we have two possibilities: on Tuesday we go see a house in Radotin that I have VERY high hopes for and Wednesday we go see a flat. I'm really hoping that the house will be IT. Now it just depends on the condition of the house and if the owners will be willing to down the price by a little bit.

I'll let you know after Tuesday how it turns out. Perhaps I'll be calling this place home, sweet home! As always, wish me luck, xo, Miss V

Instagraming

Life lately has been revolving around the same old same old. School, work, daily life. Worrying about school, work, daily life. Also house-hunting but that's a story all of its own. Because of all the mundane, there has been no time or opportunity for photo taking. This has left me with only instagram photos to share...

Firstly, a morning photo with my favorite magazine (the UK Glamour). Gosh, I love Glamour. Too bad it's quite expensive to buy it here in dreary Prague. But whatever.

Second, my two passports. They make me feel like a spy. And they make me want to do on some exotic adventure oh so badly. And maybe color my hair... Black or blonde?

Aww, Starbucks. How I love thee. Hot chocolate almost makes it okay that it's still winter over here.

Lastly, instead of reading all those books I need to for uni, I'm thinking of rebelling and reading something different, you know, just for fun. I saw these two books in the book store and am deciding between them. Any suggestions? (*Oh, also thinking of getting Silver Linings Playbook but they didn't have it in store!)

Time to start getting ready to go out. Need to walk Mr. Piggio and then it's movie night tonight (the Shockproof Film Festival). See you later!

My So-Called Life

As you can see it is a winter wonderland (= dreadfully snowing) here in Prague. I would not have ventured out if it were not for my exam. It was a bit nerve wrecking since there was no proper way to prepare for this exam - Reading Medieval Texts. Well I did my best and now onwards to face the rest of my exams.
This is what I wore btw, I felt very bee-like and it made me think happy thoughts. I went shopping to Reserved last week on Friday and ended up buying loads of things (this sweater that I absolutely adore, this miniskirt and one other, two pairs of tights, two knee-length socks and an over-sized tee/dress). Speaking of things I adore, I love my new phone and the cameras I have downloaded. To make "Buddy Popart" I used the app PicsArt and I have just found the app LINE camera that I started using today and quite like (the first photo was done by using this app).
I have been posting random photos on Instagram and have been really enjoying it. For instance this is my favorite (and quite simple) eye look. All you need is a steady hand and gel eyeliner. Fellow instagramers, you can find me under msveveve.
Below: an outfit I wore over the weekend: thick coat and warm shoes. *I have no idea how I'm doing with the shoe challenge since hadn't taken proper photos in ages, but I have finally crossed some old shoes out of my shoe list and I still need to cross out a few more. However, I'm glad that these shoes are "safe".
Photos taken on Thusday on my way home from work - I love the view from Nuselsky bridge.
*Almost forgot, I bought a new wallet from Topshop. Being a huge lover of leo print I thought it was perfect for me. And it was on sale...
And the last of my shopping (yup, I'm broke): these gorgeous Zara flats. I just don't know how to say no to a pair of studded shoes.
 Here's a close-up. Aren't they just lovely??
To end this random "in my life" post - what I have been wearing almost non-stop: this uber warm Zara winter coat. It's like walking around wearing a duvet. But better. Much better. That's all for now, I have to go and write an essay (deadline today, ops!). Talk soon, xo, Veve

Picture Perfect.

Isn't it amusing how in the films, in the TV shows it's always so complicated yet always so simple at the same time. Girl meets boy, falls in love, then there's the problem, facing the troubles and yet all the time it is so damn obvious what should happen, how it should all resolve to the happily ever after. And everyone's so perfect. Prefectly dressed, great make-up (even during the crying scenes), amazing hair.

But sadly real life is a bit different. The scenerios aren't so black and white, the perfect guy is not always there or behind the corner and unexpected things do happen. And thus being perfectly dressed, having great make-up and amazing hair can be quite the challange if not impossible completely. Take today, for example, was at a club - very very hot inside, thus my MM curls got a bit tired, my make-up a bit gone and my clothes a bit wet, ugh. Then I go out and it's lightly raining so my curls got even more abuse and my jean jacket, 50;s cropped pants and ballerina flats were sooo not enough for the night chill. What's a girl to do?

Take it like a man.. ?
