248 Tribal Wear

After dinner with the boy yesterday I stopped by Zara and I bought a sweet little dress and this skirt in the sales. The skirt (pictured above) is the same one as the black Zara skirt I bought in Dubai. This one has a quirky tribal print going on though and I reckon that makes it way more summerish. Btw, these sandals were also bought in Dubai (they don't call it the shopping heaven for nothing!) and I wore them during the trip so this shoe save isn't really that much of a cheat, considering. I was glad to be able to purchase these shoes cause I was lusting after them way back during our London trip. Well, that concludes the shoe saving for today - and I have merely 5 pairs to go until I'm done! (That is, if I don't buy any more shoes!)

247 Rocker Barbie (Would Wear)

 Because of the snow & cold these shoes were obvi worn only indoors. When I first saw these shoes, they immediately reminded me of Barbie doll shoes (due to the color). I also fell in love with the pale blue sole (who says only red soles matter?!). When styling these shoes I thought: what kind of a Barbie would I want to be? Well, the answer was: Rocker Barbie. As if just on que, I thrifted this light knit sweater today and I had this new leather mini at hand (one you haven't seen here before).

 I thrifted this sweater today after finshing my exam. I absolutely adore the cut and style of it. It's semi see-through and can be either dressed down or up. The mini is also one of my new favorites - bought in the post Christmas sales. Below you can see a close-up of the shoes.

Winter & Desserts

 Yesterday I wrote about chocolate chip cookies. But that was yesterday.. Today is a completely different story. Right. Anyways, I popped by the sweet shop and bought a coconut cookie (for the boy) and a cream puff (for me). These are without a doubt two of my favorite treats. The good thing about winter is you get to treat yourself to some awesome sweets. Summer just isn't the same in the sweets department.

And in order to survive in this winter wonderland you have to bundle up. I was wearing 2 sweaters, a shirt and a tank top underneath my jacket! (I accidently took a video of my outfit instead of a photo - silly me.) I wore this to my big exam (a written one so I got away with wearing jeans) and now I'm sleepy so nighty night, xox, Miss V

Just Read

While I was on holiday I read a few books, among them were Caprice Crane's "Forget About It" and Stella Newman's "Pear Shaped". Both fall into the chicklit category and are prefect for reading at the beach and not having to think about too much:) Since I read loads for school (usually books that are part of the "canon"), I like my pass-time reading to be either the kathy-reichs-ish detective type or chicklit. So anyways, "Forget About It" was quite enjoyable. I really liked Crane's other novel ("Stupid & Contageous") so I was quite psyched to find the book in the Dubai Mall bookstore (and for only 10 Dhs! That's like the money equivalent to nothing:) - I had been searching for this book but the kindle version wasn't availiable in the Czech Rep and ordering it would have been the last resort (takes ages). Anyways, back to the book: it's about a 25 year old girl would has a crappy life and wants to get out, so she fakes amnesia and changes her life for the better but then she has another accident and actually really loses her memory. I recommend this book for some easy reading. Newman's "Pear Shaped" is about a pudding developer Sophie who is in an abusive relationship. I really enjoyed the book (even though I sort of skimmed the latter part of it since she was a bit annoying as she was moping post break-up). What I really liked about the book was Sophie's love for food and realistic struggle between over-indulging and living healthily. Thus I perhaps would have preferred a happy-ending (of her ex being miserable without her and Sophie being uber happy with someone else), the real one was better for being real.

246 The Last of the Vaca

These shoes were a godsend. I had forgotten to pack any go-to-comfy shoes with me for my trip, so when I was blistered from the shoes I wore for the flight I had quite the problem on my hands: the boy wanted to do a LOT of walking and my feet were killing me in all my packed shoes. The shoes I brought were all good BUT since I already had sensitive feet, they just wouldn't do. So I set out to find a comfy and still stylish pair of converse-esque shoes. Pull&Bear is the place to go. I already own a pair of Pull&Bear trainers and I love them dearly. So I was super happy to find the last pair of these shoes (shoes I had been eyeing in Prague for quite a while actually). I love the checked upper and the white sole. Perfect with my checked shirt:) I wore them loads during the trip and I dare say that when the snow melts away, I'll be wearing them a lot here in Prague as well.)

Gourmet gourmet

I have many loves: I love my family, my boy, my pets, my shoes, films, music... but one of the most important of these loves is the love for good food. I am crazy in love with sweets and with pasta and even with healthy foods. I do not eat to survive, I eat to enjoy it. Ever since I was a little girl, I have had this love (or obssession). And one of my beloved foods is the dessert. Among this are the various high class sorts but also the down-to-earth everyday types - like the chocolate chip cookie. The best are those that are still a little warm, soft and huge :) I prefer to make my own but it can be a tad difficult either time wise or if you're just lusting after one (or three) cookie(s). So what to do when you're out looking for the perfect cookie to buy?

I guess it varies according to where you live. I live in Prague and there really isn't much choice. I like the Maryland cookies that you can find in the tesco grocery stores, or the starbucks variaty aren't bad but I also really like the McDonald's McCafe cookies. They make a normal cookie or a dark chocolate type and both are really good. They use huge chocolate chips and if you're lucky they'll be fresh and delisious! (If not just-out-of-the-oven they can be a bit hard but still really good.) This morning I had the dark chocolate chocolate chip cookie for breakfast. It's a good day;)

Shoe Challenge 245: Burj Khalifa

 What I wore:

Topshop dress, River Island tights, Mango sweater, River Island bag, Next ballerina flats - I love the straps across the ankle, River Island earrings, complementary rubber bangles from the dolphinarium:) - they matched my outfit..

 I really had such a good time in Dubai (even though I didn't want to go there at first). The food was delish, the sights were quite something and the shopping was good. The dress, bag, tight, earring AND shoes were all bought on this trip. The bag was sadly cursed (first I returned a pair of RI jeans that had weird pockets in the back which I didn't notice instore and so I got the bag instead, and then the zipper broke on the bag so I had to go and return the bag for a new one with a good zipper - however this was all very traumatazing for me cause I seriously HATE returning things!)

A breathtaking view of Dubai. This was on our last night there and I'm so glad we got tickets for teh night "tour" of the Khalifa tower (you ride up in the world's fastest elevator and can see the view from all the sides). I have one more shoe save from this trip and then I'll have to do some shoe saving here. What a horrid thought, it is SO cold out! I have been surviving in my Moonbooots ever since our return and though I love these bad boys I do dearly miss the sunshine.. talk soon, xox.

Dolphine Love

It was an experience that i will cherish my entire life..

244 French Connection

I wore these sandals A LOT whilst on holiday. They are slightly quirky with the off-centered strap and the blue and black color combo. And they are sooo comfy. Perfect for touring about on vaca. You already heard about my obsession with the mullet skirt. I long to be wearing it rightthisminute but sadly it is minus15 celsius here and I'll be staying indoors until the spring my exams on thursday morning. I should be studying but instead I'm stuck on a good book and wrapped up in bed. Ultimately the best choice for those freezing winter days... xox, Miss V

Shoe Saving in Dubai (243)

 While in Dubai I bought and saved these awesome River Island ankle boots. Sadly the only picture I found of myself wearing them is a bit fuzzy. I was wearing my new & favorite skirt from Zara (yes, it IS a mullet skirt - and it is completely awesome!), h&m grey tank top, Forever21 sweater and a pair of black tights. The second pic is from the River Island website. I love the zipper on the side and the slightly slouched look of the upper. I really love these shoes (AND they are actually comfy:))

One of my favorite things about visiting Dubai was this sweets store in the Mall of the Emirates, it had all of my childhood favorites: Nerds, Gobstoppers & the Charleston Chew. I was in heaven..

I'm Back Plus a Shoe Save

 Hey everyone! Yesterday we returned from our vacationa and I'm slowly sliding back to the normal routine of things - including this here blog. I'll be posting from the trip soon (have some shoe saves pilled up) but for now you'll have to settle with a photo from the boat tour of Dubai (wearing: Zara scarf, Forever 21 sweater, Mango black sweater) and a picture of the shoes I wore for the flight there. Sadly they totally hurt like hell so I didn't wear them again to get a good photo and the flight outfit was well a bit boring truth be told. I did buy a few pairs of shoes (7) while on vacation so I have some shoe saving ahead. Meanwhile, this is shoe save number... 242.

I sure hope they get comfier with time cause I was planning on getting a lot of wear out of them come spring. Here's to hoping, xox, Miss V

Seminar Paper Hell

 Today I'm slaving away on my Morphology II Seminar paper which has to be handed in by Friday but since I'm leaving for vaca on Thurs, I have to get it done like NOW. Cause I still have essays and other annoying stuff to get through. School work can be so annoying. Especially writing a seminar paper about morphological analysis of a text extract. So I guess I'll have a little break and look at some shoes. Perhaps make a packing list for the upcoming trip. Hmmm green flats - to take or not to take?

Inspiration: Ice Cream

 This Thursday the boy & I will be heading off to the middle east for our January holiday. Basically a week in paradise planned.. Truth be told, I cannot wait to escape the horrors of Czech winter and instead be enjoying the wonderful sun. Thinking of the sun shining has triggered thoughts of ice cream. Another wintery day

I am a summer girl. Or at the very least a spring girl. Winter on the other hand is my nemesis. It brings me down. And in order to stay my cheerful self I wear beautiful bright colors. Like this shawl. I believe this shawl deserves special attention. It was a gift from the boy's parents and I marvel at how well they chose. (shawl - Espirit, hat - Zara, jacket - H&M, plus a million layers and a pair of cargo pants:) I am so excited about going on vacation next week - it will be well deserved if I manage to finish all my uni assignments!

Rantaranta

Yesterday was my big exam and as it was a written one, I have no clue how it turned out. All I do know is that is was hard, really really hard. And you need to have at least 70 % correct to pass (so not fair!). Anyways, after my exam I stopped by H&M and bought myself a pair of khaki trousers and a pair of black slacks:) I then popped by Stradivarius and bought the most darling gown ever which I cannot wait for it to be warm enough to wear (e.g. summertime). I also went to Zara but all their shoes were GONE?! Horrible horrible tragedy. Anyways, I'll hopefully post some photos of the new things soon, but not today, since I'm at the lab and in full throtle. There was a nice surprise waiting for me at the lab (a belatted christmas pressie from my bro - the novel Generation Kill.) I absolutely LOVED the HBO miniseries so I am excited about having the chance to read the book:))

241 The Newest of the New

 Yeah, so yesterday I bought another pair of shoes. This time they weren't from Zara though :)) but from their sister company Stradivarius. When I saw them at store (and I could swear they weren't there last week) I was literally stopped in my tracks. They reminded me of creepers in a way and I have a huge love for creepers. I tried them on and knew I couldn't leave them behind...

 Wearing: Zara leather trousers, vintage belt, Zara David Bowie tee (also wore this darling new sweater from Stradivarius but sadly forgot to snap a picture of it). The boy & I went to see the hollywood version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo movie last night & I thought leather pants were a must:) Thematic dressing...

Inspiration (that I couldn't resist)

 It's been a while since I'd done inspiration and today's is special due to the fact that their mine'o'mine! Yes indeedy. After yesterday's exam I went to my closest Zara store and bought the two pairs I had been LUSTING AFTER for ages (well, ever since Christmas). The first pair is a gorgeous court heel with cap-toe detainling. I love the two colors and can picture myself wearing them a hell of a lot. I also adore the chunkier heel.

 The second pair is in my opinion even more special. These incredibly awesome ballerina flats are simply magical. It's like having gold feet.. They literally shine! They make me feel like Dorothy from the Wizard of Ozz. And sequinned shoes are better than glittered, since I'd say they are more durable.

 Also from the Zara site. I love this detailed picture. I honestly cannot wait to wear them. And I feel very proud of myself for waiting after my first exam to purchase them (though I was so worried they'd be sold out, being the last pair and everything).

So obviously now you think I only shop at Zara and H&M and partially that's true (if you add Topshop & Stradivarius to the mix). And Melissa, obviously Melissa. I love love love Melissa Shoes, I'm additicted to them (ever since Viv's first collection for Mel). I bought these flats (the white pair first) about a month ago and was so enchanted by them that I ended ordering their negative counterparts (the black pair) with the idea I might wear one shoe out of each pair as a quirky pair of their own. Perhaps that's not the best idea, but anyways, it was worth a try. And I still love the shoes so am happy I got both color choices. They make me long for warm days and a bit of sun shine. Luckily my January vacation is coming up soon (in about two weeks) so now I just have to pass all of my exams and finish writing my essays. Aaaargh! Wish me luck, xox, MsV

I have an exam in exactly two hours, I have slept less than an hour, and now I'm squinting in the dark and waiting for the boy's alarm clock to go off so I can turn on the light. I have a brilliant post planned for later today - if I survive the test I'll snap the pics, deal?

Bowdacious

I was hoping to be feeling much better today but sadly quite the opposite happened. I was also hoping to get tons of stuff done but instead all I managed to do was walk Dracul (aka Mr. Piggy) and make myself lunch, otherwise was stuck in bed or watching a few back episodes of some shows. And I feel exhausted from just doing that much! I didn't even bother getting dressed (I went out wearing my PJ top covered by a trusty sweater and a pair of casual jeans, with Uggs on as well - thus definitely no pictures needed!)

But since I had promised you a post, I've decided to give you a peek at some of my favorite hair accessories. Now, as you may know, I have vast difficulties with my hair (e.g. I usually don't even bother to brush it much less style it somehow). So if I do feel like making somewhat of an effort, I usually just stick a bow into a braid. And no, that is not a metaphore. Anyways, one of the Christmas gifts I got was a hair curler, so I have been flirting with styling my hair when I go out (though obviously not today). I'm thinking 2012 might be a good year to start paying more attention to my hair, afterall, a nice hair style does 1-up the whole outfit...back tomorrow - well maybe - till then, xox, MsV

Besides going to uni today I also managed to have a huge huge huge lunch and watch the movie PENELOPE. Have you seen it? It's a fairytale story of a curse and a girl with a pig face, played by Christina Ricci. Totally awesome! But then again I am partial to a piggy face...penelo

The End of 2011

It's 2012. Time sure flies. With exam month pending I realize I have been slacking off WAY WAY too much lately. I have translations to get through, essays to write and whole subjects to revise not to mention lab work I have been putting off for ages. Garggh! It's definitely time to wake up and get at it! On the plus side I only have 4 pairs of shoes left to save:)

So basically my New Year's resolution list has being less lazy on it. What's on yours?
