Ladies Who Lunch

Over the weekend I saved a very difficult pair of heels. Remember these killer heels? I had the perfect opportunity to save them as I had a lunch date, to which I was driven to and then home. But gosh, I have either really gotten unused to high heels or these shoes are really killer, because a) I could hardly walk in them to the restaurant and back to the parking space and b) my feet were killing me. But I guess I'm glad I saved them in the challenge? I mean, okay, so there really isn't a point in having shoes that are quite literally unwalkable BUT they are quite pretty and maybe once I get used to heels again... (the last time I wore really high heels was two weeks ago and those were wedges) and if the cobble stones disappear from the streets in Prague, they will be the perfect shoes haha.

Shoes saved: Gamloong lace-up ankle boots (dark green suede)
Wearing: Zara Woman coat, United colors of beneton scarf, H&M studded bag, I was also wearing my favorite sweater from Reserved and a miniskirt from H&M

As you can see in the post that I linked above, the last time (actually the only time) I wore these shoes was over a year ago. Well at least this time I didn't fall in them! That last picture I'm just really happy to be almost home.

Holiday Happiness

Hey everyone, I hope you are all enjoying the holidays. My week was a bit hectic and then totally relaxing so it's all good. I haven't really been saving shoes much but I did save a pair today (which I'll post later) and I have these photos from a past save to show you today.

Shoes saved: Zara leather boots
Wearing: Zara Woman winter coat, H&M scarf, Zara miniskirt, Stradivarius long sleeved top, pig walking bag

Even Dracul likes these boots...

These are one of my all-time favorite boots but sadly they peep in some stores (?!), which is insanely irritating. I went to the Zara store to get them unblocked or whatever but they don't peep in the Zara store and they ran the boots through their magnetic thingy and they still peep in some other stores. So I only wear them when I know I won't be shopping. Like for a walk with Mr. Pig. But all-in-all I knew these boots wouldn't be hard to save in the challenge because they are ridiculously comfortable and I think they are pretty as well. Which is really what all shoes should be. (That's kinda funny since the shoes I wore out to lunch today - you can see them on my instagram - are the exact opposite = completely unwearable. I'll be posting that save on Monday.) So anyways I hope your weekend is great and I'll see you all on Monday.

Pig'smas

This year was definitely a first - I've never had a real Christmas tree before and we got one this year. It is super small and seriously cute. We decorated it with tiny ornaments and these adorable little lights. It sits proudly on our living room table.

I really like the photo above because you can see my favorite painting in the background. The kitchen may be a bit of a mess so don't study the photos too closely.

The tree looks especially beautiful when it's dark and the tree lights are on. I couldn't get a good picture though, but I kinda like the imperfect one I did manage, because the lights look like little hearts. Aww.

Anyways, as the title of the post belied - this post is dedicated to my little dude. Mr. Pig is really enjoying Christmas this year - he's already received most of his presents (well, I still have to make one more but more on that in a different post) but he's really more into the food than the material stuff. Still, as every animal owner will surely agree, it's pretty awesome spoiling your little companion.

My dwarf pig may not be so dwarf anymore but he's still my little piggy in my heart. And every little piggy needs a teddy bear. Yeah, we got Dracul the pig a teddy bear. Isn't he the cutest? And he's super soft too. Dracul tends to throw him off his bed but I know he likes him deep down.

We also got this super cute painting for his room. The majestic pig. Below you can also see a further-away-photo to get the idea how big the painting is. It's average size but I think it fits in the room perfectly.

Obviously, I also got my people friends and family gifts. I realized that although I love to gift wrap presents, I actually kinda suck at it. And some things are soooo hard to wrap it's insane. I'm still getting a few more things today but it's just some odds and ends. I'm hiding the presents in my shoe room. Very conspicuous...

Take Two

Remember those leather Zara boots I mentioned in this post? Well, it was definitely the right time to save them in the shoe challenge this week. I have no idea why the photos look so grainy but at least you can see my head this time, right? :)

Shoes saved: Zara leather boots
Wearing: Mango motorcycle jacket, vintage dress, Zara studded belt

I was in the mood for a darker outfit and luckily I didn't have to go far so I got away with just wearing my Mango motorcycle jacket. Man, I am so sick of winter coats by now. Or well of my Zara Woman one which I wear almost every day! Now I'm running off to work and yup, I will be wearing exactly that winter coat. I might get a new one in the post-Christmas sales. We'll see. Anyways, that's all for now, see you soon, mwah.

One Big Ouch

Last night I had quite a hectic night - I did a spot of last minute Christmas shopping, then I went to the movies with my brother & his gf & a friend of theirs (who is absolutely fabulous) but I only managed about half the movie (luckily I'd seen it before, but still, I would have liked to have seen the whole thing again) cause then I had a girls' night out with my besties planned and we had a reservation at nine thirty and I wouldn't have made it if I hadn't left the cinema early. I definitely did not choose the right footwear and I have the blisters to prove it. Damn. When will these shoes be ever broken into?? It's been years since I'd bought them. Really furstrating.

Shoes saved: Doc Martens lace-up boots
Worn on: 18.12.2013
Wearing: Zara Woman winter coat, Topshop dress in coral, Pull & Bear black sweater, Topshop leather gloves, H&M bag, H&M scarf

(I also had Christmas themed earrings on but you can't see them.)

The thing that pisses me off the most is that these shoes can be really comfy once you break them in (I've had Doc Martens before and literally wore them to death during my punk rock era). But with these specific shoes it's been taking too long. I've tried wetting them and wearing until they dry and I've heard that apparently if you take a hammer and hammer the shoes over a towel that's supposed to help (haven't tried that though). Well, I'm glad that they're saved in the challenge as I know it will be a while until I wear them again. I'm not that much of a masochist...

Just Woman

Winter fashion can be seriously boring. I actually have a winter uniform - more on that at the bottom of this post - and I tend to get stuck in my uniform on most days. It's dark and it's cold and I basically just want comfort and warmth and usually also the least possible effort. Actually, I just want to hibernate and wake up in Spring. I tried to shy away from my uniform today and wore a different coat and non-black footwear. Amazing, isn't it?

Shoes saved: Just Woman boots
Wearing: Zara Woman coat, Gate white tee, H&M miniskirt, Zara Office City bag

So, the shoes. I really like these - they have a nice sturdy heel and are stylish yet still comfortable for normal day use. I absolutely love the color - they go so well with my Zara Office City bag. Like they were made for each other. Definitely one of my more easier saves in the challenge. As for the uniform - it's a day uniform. What I usually wear either to work or to uni or day time activities.

Basically it's my Zara Woman winter coat that I have been wearing almost non-stop this winter (and last winter too ever since I got it from my sis as a Christmas gift). I love this coat - it's super warm and has the most adorable hood. So I usually don't wear a hat but I was feeling fancy here and decided to sport one. Next it's my Ugg boots or my River Island boots. Comfort and warmth. Key words here. And then thick tights and whatever underneath - though usually I go for black in the winter. I prefer thick tights and a dress or skirt to pants and in the winter even more so. Dunno, it just feels more me.

Saturday Night Out

Hey everyone, I promised you the Saturday night out outfit and here it is (and traditionally, it was three in the morning when these photos were taken - the things I do for this blog, seriously).

Shoes saved: Iron Fist "Loose Tooth" wedges
Worn on: 14.12.2013 - to the pub
Wearing: Zara Woman winter coat, H&M black and white scarf, H&M dress, Stradivarius oversized cardigan, F&F super warm tights, H&M bag, Hot Topic skull heart earrings

So, these are the shoes I bought on Saturday. Aren't they ridiculously gorgeous?? I lurve them so much. They were on the more pricey side but luckily I had a discount as I collect ten stamps from prior purchases (I guess I go to the Iron Fist shop quite a bit). They're called Loose Tooth wedges but I call them my skull face wedges. I think they're adorable. I knew it wouldn't be difficult to save them in the challenge because they're a really interesting shoe but when I save a shoe the day I buy them, well, that's love.

I especially love that side view but the view from the bottom isn't bad either. (The second shoe has this little grave with "Wish you were here" written on it - so cheeky.) As for comfort and walk-ability, well, I did last all night in them and with quite a bit of walking around Prague city center so I'd say they passed that test. Though, I have to say, they do have a high heel (13 cm) but there's a platform so it's not so bad. You just have to be careful while walking on those darn cobble stones. Anyways, I'm off to walk the pig and then have a uni Christmas party. Later, mwah.

Major Makeup Haul

As I mentioned in the last post, I did some serious shopping this weekend. I figured it's been a long time since I've treated myself to some makeup goodies and why not go all out once in a while. I visited my local Sephora and made a beeline to the Benefit corner. I love love LOVE Benefit cosmetics. From their quirky packaging to the fun names of the products, Benefit really speaks to me.

I started with this awesome casette - the Do the Bright Thing makeup kit. It consists of That Gal brightening face primer (this soft pink primer, I especially love the city skyline design on the little tube bottle), High Beam luminescent highlighter (I love this product, it's a pearly pink highlighter that really makes a difference), Dendelion ballerina pink face powder with an application brush, Bad Girl waterproof eye liner and finally They're Real mascara (which was voted one of the all-time best mascaras out there).

The next casette I got was the Feelin' Dandy lip & cheek kit. It's a smaller package but still so adorable and I think totally worth the cost. It has another little container of High Beam highlighter and Dandelion powder and brush as the other package had (but I figure I'll use both these products a lot so it's not bad to have two), then Posie Tint cheek tint (that you can use on the lips as well) and finally Dandelion ultra plush lip gloss.

The last Benefit casette I got was the Primping with the Stars "fake-its" kit that consists of some wonderful little items: Stay Don't Stray primer for concealers and eye shadows in light/medium (I'm really loving this product and think I'll get the full-sized bottle once I finish this little one), Some kind - a gorgeous foundation faker (I wish this had been in light instead of medium as it's a tad too dark for me so I can only use it for cheek definition), Bene Tint rose-tinted lip & cheek stain (so pretty!), Pore Fessional balm to minimize the appearance of pores (amazing product), Girl Meets Pearl liquid pearl for face and finally another little tube of the famous They're Real mascara.

Here's a close-up photo of the items in the casette. I think the items are a bit over priced but then again, if I'm going to splurge on the full sized bottles, I want to know if they really work so it's not bad to get these packages before. Luckily Sephora had a buy two get the third item free deal so I only paid for the two more expensive packages and got Feelin' Dandy for free.

I also stopped by Fann parfumerie and bought the internet-praised Lollipops Paris cheek & eye shadow powder. The packaging is sooooo beautiful!!! I was first thinking I'd get this for someone as a gift, but then I was like it's quite pricey and I'm not sure she'd like it so fuck it, I'm getting this for myself.

Isn't it gorgeous??? And it looks really good on as well. Anyways, I'm sorta broke now but since I won't be spending any more on myself I thought it was a good haul. Oh, I also bought the latest issue of Glamour magazine (the British edition). I'm off to get some work done now but I'll be back later to post about Saturday night. Well, actually, I think I'll post about that tomorrow. So everyone have a lovely and amazing day and until next time, mwah!

Friday the 13th

Prague is really cold now so I've basically turned into the Eskimo man. Well, woman, obviously, but whatever.I'm having a really strange day day as I've been consistently looking for things and then thinking I had forgotten them somewhere and then finding them where I was looking for them in the first place. My mind is definitely elsewhere. I've been busy with submitting sequences into a database and there have been some issues. My computer has been acting up and I am seriously thinking it might be time for an upgrade. But, we'll see. It's almost time to head home from work and I need to walk the piggy and then get ready to go out.

This is moi in the morning as I was leaving for work and although it is a very strange photo, I kinda love my hair in it. Something must have happened to me since then because honestly, now it looks like crap. So good thing you can't see it now haha.

Shoes saved in the challenge: Ugg Australia boots
Worn on: Friday the 13th of December 2013 (yay! I love a Friday the 13th!)
Wearing: Zara Woman winter coat, Zara leopard print scarf, Zara Office City bag (a lot of Zara today!), Topshop very colorful dress, Stradivarius oversized black cardigan with leather-like elbow patches and pocket detailing

I was wearing a really comfortable and casual look today. I think I might wear something more "me" at night when I go out but the winter is really so not fun that I'm not sure. I don't want to be freezing to death and I'd hate to catch a cold so close to the holidays. So I dunno. I'll let you see either on Monday or maybe even during the weekend. I have some studying to do so I'll probably be on my computer anyways so I may as well blog. So until then, laters.

In the Holiday Spirit

Disclaimer: I wrote this post yesterday but then managed to completely delete the text to it by accident. I was so frustrated by this turn of events that I went on to watch episodes of Project Runway and decided to write the post today instead. I haven't really been in a blogging mood lately, because I don't really find winter inspiring and winter fashion is also not really my thing. I usually just end up wearing black on black. On the other hand, I love love love Christmas and the holidays. So winter isn't all bad.

Remember how I went to the hairdresser's? Well after washing my hair the first time, the color has changed and it's a bit more red now. So I'm definitely excited about January and about my next visit to the hair salon. But I want to enjoy my holidays and don't want them to end any time soon! Plus uni exams are drawing near and I have a lot of studying to do!!

Shoes saved: New Look wedge trainers
Worn on: 8.12.2013 - Sunday lunch and wrapping paper shopping
Wearing: warmest winter coat Zara Woman, studded bag H&M, opaque tights F&F, black turtleneck Promod, black knitted vest New Look, black miniskirt Zara

Do You Remember?

These photos (and shoe save) were taken - obviously - before I got my hair color changed (last Tuesday). So in a way, this is a blast from the past. Well, one week from the past... Yup, I've got my camera back!

Shoes saved: Asos Croc Effect Mary Janes
Worn on: 2.12.2013
Wearing: Zara TRF tee, Pull & Bear miniskirt, Asos fishnet tights over H&M opaque tights

Okay, so the shoes (after all, this is a shoe challenge post): not the most comfortable - although they have a tiny concealed platform, they also have quite a high heel so your feet hurt after a while. This time they weren't so bad (but then again, I didn't have them on for a too long period of time) but the first time I wore them out - to the pub, half way across town - I was in terrible pain and by the end of the night was hobbling around like an idiot.

The upper is man made material made to look like crocodile skin and has a lovely purple color and I love the gold lining. And Mary Janes are a favorite type of shoe for me. Especially on a shoe like this - the proper/good girl vibe of the Mary Jane with the fun and wild print. Too bad they aren't more comfortable - they'd get a lot more wear otherwise. Well, at least they're saved. I mean, I might not love these shoes but I still like them enough to want to keep them...

I talk to my shoes

Life lately has been trying to survive the crazy wind & hail storms outside while wearing my winter uniform (more on that in a later post - once I get my camera back) and trying to stay cheerful. And enjoying my new hair color. I'm slowly getting used to it but I know that I still want to change it a bit (have another hairdresser appointment in January). I came across this picture and had to show you. This is my animated alter ego. She might be crying but she's still badass. And has great hair.

Anyways, remember this post? I decided the shoes warranted a close-up photo after all. The shoes are simple ankle boots from F&F but sometimes simple is best. You don't have to really worry about your outfit as simple shoes tend to go with everything. They're the type of shoes you can slip on at the last minute and not worry.

Lately it's been so cold that I've been mostly wearing shoes from this corner of my shoe closet. The warm ankle boot corner. Those furry ones are my current favorite. And although I like some of these shoes a lot (well, I love most of my shoes), it's still super annoying when you don't have any say in the matter. Survival mode is so not fun.

Honestly, I'd so rather be wearing shoes from this corner of my shoe stock. Hello lovelies. Oh and sorry pink pair - I need to dust you. Some people talk to animals, I talk to my shoes.

Now that you think I'm crazy, let's move on to some real crazy. My new glasses crazy. Say hello to Asos Wavy Highbrow. They really don't suit me but were super cheap so I don't care. And with the right lighting (or lack of) I can totally pull them off haha. I was going to show you a photo but then I was like, no way! Instead, here's little ol'me at the lab (I photoshopped the background as lab stuff is private, sorry) and yup, I'm still wearing my favorite Zara scarf. (This thing has gotten loads of wear over the years - best purchase ever!) It's freezing in the lab so I'm glad I have it with me.

This post is so random today, I can't help it. It's December, it gets to me. I'll off to do some computer check ups and what not so I have to run but I'll try to post something over the weekend (no promises though) and oh, I'm thinking of getting a new camera after Christmas? Any suggestions? This blog desperately needs a new camera! Til next time, mwah.

Before and After

First of all, these pictures suck. I know. But M has borrowed my camera and has not returned it yet (dude, seriously?) and so I'm stuck with just my cell phone camera. But I just had to share my recent hair color change with you. I can't keep a secret haha. So, as you know, I used to have loooong dark brown hair, right? Like the way it's pictured below:

(BEFORE)

Shoes saved: Zara leather boots, bought last year (thanks sis!)
Worn on: 3.12.2013 (Tuesday) - picture taken on the way to the hairdresser's
Wearing: Zara Woman winter coat (the warmest I have, so I love it), Zara leopard print scarf, H&M studded bag (have been too lazy to change bags), H&M LBD, Pull & Bear sweater

I don't really have a before and after photo as I arrived home from the hairdresser's super late and didn't take a photo. But I took a pic on the next day when I went to school. Tada! I have strawberry blond hair.

(AFTER)

Shoes saved: NYer ankle boots / wedge trainers
Worn on: 4.12.2013 - uni day
Wearing: Zara Woman winter coat (I probably won't be wearing any different coat for a while, Prague has gotten cold), Zara leopard print scarf (another favorite), H&M bag (ehm), Mango jeans (favorites), white Reserved tee (that you can't see) and Bershka sweater (also not shown).

I promise once I get my camera back (by Friday, hopefully) I'll post some proper hair pics. But the phone pics aren't that bad, right? And how else would I save any shoes? Until next time, see ya!

Is that the Sun? It's been so long..

Sorry about yesterday - I wasn't feeling well and I went to the hairdresser's (so I had no time anyways) to get my hair color changed and I got a hair cut. My hair is now like 25 centimeters shorter. A hair cut was definitely overdue. Now back to the weekend and a pair of shoes I saved in the challenge that I haven't shown you yet:

Shoes saved: F&F lace-up ankle boots
Worn on: 1.12.2013 - Saturday lunch date
Wearing: Bershka dress, Topshop coat, Espirit scarf, Topshop gloves, H&M studded bag, Zara sunglasses

Speaking of sunglasses - I have load but rarely wear any as I always forget them at home, silly me. I just ordered two pairs from Asos while I was gift shopping and cannot wait until they arrive. I hope they suit me (I usually try glasses on before buying them but these were super cheap so whatever). The glasses I'm wearing in these photos are one of my favorites, I think my sis got them for me but I'm not sure. I've had them for years. As for the shoes - they're just a basic pair of ankle boots. Easy to walk in, lace-up with a zipper on the side, nothing special really. I've had them two three years.
