Stolen From Myself

If you don't already follow me on instagram, you are missing out. I regularly post photos there from my mundane life:) The picture above is from last Friday. I wore a Zara dress, Zara fake leather jacket, Stradivarius studded bag and Vagabond wedge shoes. Oh and an Asos studded headband. It's new and I really liked wearing it. The book I'm holding is "Nightmare" from Lars Kepler. I haven't had much time to read it but I'm already half-way through and am enjoying it.

I modeled at this year's Hell Party. That's a voodoo doll I'm holding btw.  And this is the only photo from this post that wasn't on my instagram. I had a different one there...

The boy & I and some friends went to the botanic garden on Saturday. I has this whole "skull party"thing going on (Skull literally having a party t-shirt from Topshop, Skull pants from Iron Fist, limited edition cat ears headband Asos, Zara bag, River Island shoes, Asos tooth earrings.)

Sunday it got cold and I got to wear my fake fur half-poncho thing. I call it "the mushroom". (Sisley fake fur mushroom thing, Sisley sweater, Zara miniskirt, leopard print flats, Marc B for Topshop bag.) I posed on the way from the boy's parents place by the empty trains at the train station near our flat. I love trains.

Anyways, that's all for now. I'm off to read that book! See you soon.

Thrifted

I've been trying to save money lately and so I haven't been buying anything, let alone shoes. But this past week I happened upon the following pairs for ridiculously low prices and being me, I couldn't resist.

These are a pair of peep toe heels with a darling bow on the front of the shoe. The brand is one I haven't heard of before, called "Baby Angel". The shoe has a really cute logo on the inside (not pictured, sorry) of a baby devil head in pink.

But really, they had me at the bow. On to the next pair: gorgeous strappy sandals by Gucci. They are very delicate and I wouldn't usually go for this type of shoe, but from the moment I put them on, there was no way I was not going to be taking them home. They feel like a "Cinderella" shoe.

Next is a "fun"pair (and actually the pair I bought first, sometime last week, while all the others were bought today). Again it's from a brand I didn't know, called "Roots". These shoes are the only ones that I bought that are not high heeled. They have a tiny tiny little heel, almost like a kitten heel but much smaller and more like a wedge. (I hate kitten heels btw.) I like the flower detail and the nice bright color.

Last is another pair of heeled sandals. These are Hugo Boss and are a beautiful baby pink color. They are quite high but still comfortable enough. However, what really captured me is the fastening of the ankle strap: I love that it goes twice around the ankle. All of the shoes except for the red pointed toe "flats" (with a heel that small, they are basically flats) cost 50 crowns each and the red flats cost 75 crowns. the Gucci and the Hugo Boss shoes are real leather whereas the two other pairs are not. I think all of these shoes will be nice additions to my shoe collection and I cannot wait to wear them (I'll be going to the pub tonight and have no clue which ones to choose!).

Spring has sprung

The weather has been blissfully nice for the past two days, which under normal circumstances would be perfect but I can't really enjoy it at the moment because I've got a terrible cold. Yup. I'm surrounded by tissues and fantasizing about honeyed tea. I'm also dreading a certain photo shoot I have planned for tomorrow as my flat is a mess and am in no mood to clean it up. I'm watching "12 Dates of Christmas" on youtube and dreaming up things I'll be doing once the weather gets even warmer.

I want to purchase an amazing flat or little house. I want to plant flowers either in a garden or on a balcony. I want the pig to has his own room. Heck, I want to have more room myself. And I totally want a bike. And here's my inspiration:

Files of New: Zara City

After hearing so many great things about this bag, I finally took the plunge today. I've been looking for a good uni bag for ages - something that would fit my laptop & all my notebooks/kindle/everyday crap and yet still would be stylish and wearable with the things in my closet.. I originally wanted the black version but it was sold out and black is a tad bit boring no? So I'm glad I got the tan version instead. Now normally I would rather have bought something a little bit cheaper (it cost 1999 Kc which is about 77 Euro or 99$ - it's so sad how things in Czech Republic cost more than anywhere else :// I should have just ordered it online and it would have been cheaper even with the shipping but I didn't want to wait any longer.. so I've paid the price, but since I have been really good lately and not spending I thought it was a fitting reward.) but in the end I thought the bag well worth the money. (It's the Zara Office City Bag.)
The bag is super cute and what I really love about it is that it has a padded pocket fitted from your laptop. Genius. This way you don't have to carry a case around with you saving you loads of room. (It fits a 15 inch laptop, but mine is a 13 incher so he'll be more than comfy.) I cannot wait to wear it to school & work tomorrow! (* All pictures from Zara.com)

Finally

My go-to outfit in this crappy weather: Zara knitted hat, H&M jacket, Zara turtleneck, Mango jeans, Adidas bag, Roma gloves, River Island shoes
My more artsy look: Mango dress, Zara sweater, United Colors of Benetton scarf, Paul B bag, sneaker wedges, red lipstick (Catrice: Ultimate Shine in 130 Ketch-me-up)

Today is the first day that actually felt like Spring. The weekend was coldish and almost raining, 1st picture is from Friday night. we stayed at home and the boy bought wine (that's what's in the bottle btw). On Saturday we went to a gallery to see the works of Rona. He's a painter and sculpture and I quite enjoyed seeing his work. I wore my new Mango dress - note to self - wait to wear this dress until the weather permits to wear it without a jacket. (As with one it is not the most flattering...)

Saturday night we also went to the pub - I wore this Zara TRF dress that I hadn't had on in ages. *The dress in the background is from Reserved and it's new and I cannot wait to wear it but the occasion hasn't arrived yet. Oh and that's the back of the dress.

Sunday was definitely my favorite day - we went to the Zoo. I love the Zoo. I especially love the piggies at the Zoo. I know, I know, I already have a pig at home, but I can't help it. It wasn't the warmest but at least the Zoo wasn't too crowded. I always take a ton of photos of all the animals, but almost always forget to get the boy to take one of me. Luckily I managed this one picture:) (I also have another one of my Instagram: msveveve)

Making the Best of It

Or trying to, but I bet everyone is fed up with the cold by now, even the winter lovers amongst us. This is what I wore yesterday to the pub:

(River Island boots, Mango coat, Zara hat, Stradivarius bag, Simply Vera - Vera Wang jersey dress, Mango sweater, Roma gloves)

Let's talk about the shoes for a moment. They were a gift from the boy last winter? (Perhaps the winter before.) Anyways, I love them. They are a bit quirky, stylish, yet still comfy and casual. They are the perfect no-heel ankle boots for me. I'm wearing them today too :) Here's a close up:

I'm running off to a seminar now so see you soon and happy weekend everyone!

Dear Blog

Are you mad at me? I've been neglecting you so much. No pretty photos, no juicy posts. It's been too much complaining (about uni) and too much lazying around. You deserve better, you really do. And I'll give it to you. Or at least I'll try.
I'll tell you what I've been up to. The boy & I took a trip over Easter weekend and went to some little town near Ostrava/Havirov because a friend was celebrating his 30th bday. We went by train and the trip was pleasant enough. I got to read a couple of books, among which was "Silver Linings Playbook" by Matthew Quick. I quite enjoyed the book and now am ready to go see the film (I absolutely adore Jennifer Lawrence)! Here's my review on the book.

I wore some cute outfits (which I forgot to photograph, of course) and then it snowed loads and we went by train back home. I read a couple more books but Silver Linings was the best. Oh, my Asos watch finally arrived (ordered it ages ago) and have been wearing it since. (This might be due to the fact that all my other watches have run out of batteries... or because I really like my new mustache watch.) I'm wearing it today, see. This is my arm, at work. The rest of me looked a bit too tired and wired for a featured picture. But I'll take some photos soon, I promise! What a bad blogger I've been!

Hope to see you soon,

Yours always,

Miss V

On Repeat

There are so many things on my mind right now. I have, as usual, a ton of things I should be doing. But instead it's like I'm in hibernation mood. Literally. I just want to lay in bed with hot sweet tea reading my favorite books and watching the LBDs. I'll be honest and admit that I skipped school on Monday, luckily a class got canceled yesterday and today I stayed home because I was feeling very under the weather. So yeah, I've spent the day reading but instead of reading books I've been swept away by fanfiction.

And it's gotten me thinking about relationships. And what people expect out of relationships. And why real life can never really be like the fairytale versions that we can only dream about. I mean, I'm in a relationship that I'm quite happy with. We have become more than just boyfriend/girlfriend, I think we've become best friends. But the point is, and yes, there is a point, as "perfect" as it is or as it can be, there will always be ups and downs. We're human, we're real, we have misunderstandings. For instance, we don't agree on the pig. He thinks I should get rid of Dracul because Dracul destroys our rented flat, whereas I would hate myself if I got rid of a helpless animal that I myself acquired.

But what I wanted to talk about was fanfiction. Yes, fanfiction. I think I might be addicted. Remember when I mentioned the Lizzie Bennet Diaries? Well, the show is ending tomorrow (although there will be another season based on the Pemberley miniseries) and I've grown very attached to it. With Lizzie and Darcy finally getting together, it's nice to read some romantic fluff stories about when could have happened and could in the future between my favorite couple. Yes, I am a bit obsessed with Pride & Prejudice okay? But to keep face I must mention that I am centering my BA thesis all on Austen's P&P and all the various adaptations :) (and there are loads! Did you know there's a Bollywood version?! Yeah. And a pretty good Dutch version...)

Anyways, here's to my favorite fictional couple & long live fanfiction, xoxo, Miss V

Hey It's Still Winter Over Here!

Dear Readers,
whoever has Spring-like weather already - I'm entirely jealous! It's bloody winter over here, with the freezing nights and the snow we'll be getting tomorrow. I'm basically wearing various versions of the outfit pictured below - warmest coat, thick shawl, hat, gloves, jeans, trusty boots. Plus multiple sweaters. Seriously, no fun. I mean, don't get me wrong, I LIKE outerwear and layering and all that and I adore cute boots too but after a while it gets old and you just want to put on a cute dress and a pair of sandals. Or wedges. Or ballerina flats. Man, I miss those the most right now!

Pictured above: Zara coat, Zara jeans, Zara boots, Stradivarius bag, Pull&Bear shawl, thrifted sweater, Roma gloves, Gate hat

Actually, I had some fun outfit wise on Saturday. The boy & I & some friends went to a pub and then for cocktails. I threw caution to the wind and wore a cute dress and AMAZING shoes, with a V-neck sweater and a thinner coat. I felt gorgeous, but I did almost freeze to death. All-in-all it was worth it (especially since we took a taxi home!) and surprisingly my feet weren't killing me at all.

H&M dress, Bershka sweater, Asos mustache watch, Stradivarius bag and Maison Martin Margiela for H&M boots with plexi glass wedge (it's looks like I'm walking on air - perfection!)

Sorry that the picture isn't better but it was taken via my phone cam and was posted on instagram, follow me here.

Yaddy Ya Ya

Sorry it's taken me ages to write. But life has been wintery and boring. We went to see the house - it was not what I was expecting. Way too close to the road, in need of a LOT of renovation and the garden wasn't too pretty. So now I'm thinking maybe it's better to buy a flat. Somewhere relatively close to the city center. Or maybe right smack IN the center? That would be pretty cool.

The boy found a really awesome flat right in the center - but of course it's not in my budget (it's about a million crowns over the limit). So that would be a no. But darn it, I don't want to settle! I want to LOVE the place I will live. I want it to be the home of my dreams!

Okay, I'll stop whining now. On a plus note, an Asos order I had been waiting on arrived.
The boots are gorgeous BUT the fit isn't right. They're a tiny bit too small and I can't get the zipper to close. I'm debating with myself if I should keep them/ return them to Asos or try to sell them. It's a hard decision. Because I hate returning anything and I'd have to pay for shipping which is super annoying. So I think I'll try to sell them via aukro or just keep them. Maybe I can wear them without the zipper closed?

Anyways, I'm off to a work seminar and then have a very busy weekend planned full of boring studying, going to the pub and family lunches. See you soon, xo, V

Adding to My Plate

Besides worrying about uni and my career, I am also worrying about where we're going to live. The lease on our flat is slowly ending and it's definitely time for an upgrade. Though I do like it here, it's way too small for us and I'd rather pay a mortgage than pay rent. Sadly, buying a home can be very stressful (all that paperwork! And most importantly, finding the right place...).

My dream home would definitely be a house. I grew up in a house and I'd want my kids to do the same. And it would be perfect for Mr. Pig as well. I'm not completely against an apartment, but it would have to be huge to make me happy. And apartments in Prague are expensive!

So the boy obviously wants an apartment nearest to Prague center and I want a house and wouldn't mind commuting a bit. We've been to several apartments so far and nothing has been a match to our requirements. But next week we have two possibilities: on Tuesday we go see a house in Radotin that I have VERY high hopes for and Wednesday we go see a flat. I'm really hoping that the house will be IT. Now it just depends on the condition of the house and if the owners will be willing to down the price by a little bit.

I'll let you know after Tuesday how it turns out. Perhaps I'll be calling this place home, sweet home! As always, wish me luck, xo, Miss V

Instagraming

Life lately has been revolving around the same old same old. School, work, daily life. Worrying about school, work, daily life. Also house-hunting but that's a story all of its own. Because of all the mundane, there has been no time or opportunity for photo taking. This has left me with only instagram photos to share...

Firstly, a morning photo with my favorite magazine (the UK Glamour). Gosh, I love Glamour. Too bad it's quite expensive to buy it here in dreary Prague. But whatever.

Second, my two passports. They make me feel like a spy. And they make me want to do on some exotic adventure oh so badly. And maybe color my hair... Black or blonde?

Aww, Starbucks. How I love thee. Hot chocolate almost makes it okay that it's still winter over here.

Lastly, instead of reading all those books I need to for uni, I'm thinking of rebelling and reading something different, you know, just for fun. I saw these two books in the book store and am deciding between them. Any suggestions? (*Oh, also thinking of getting Silver Linings Playbook but they didn't have it in store!)

Time to start getting ready to go out. Need to walk Mr. Piggio and then it's movie night tonight (the Shockproof Film Festival). See you later!

Annual visit

Today the owner of our flat stopped by for an annual visit plus to sign a new lease for half a year. I only wanted for half a year as I am currently looking over offers for flats/houses to buy sometime in the near future. Now, the idea of getting a mortgage is really scary but I would love to have a house of my own. Or a flat. But a house would be waaaaaay better :) I'm definitely a house chick.

For the meeting a wore a skirt that I wear like all the time nowadays. It's a thrift find and was originally from H&M (and it had a peplum at the top but I cut that off). The sweater is from JCrew. The top is Zara and was bought during the sales. I really like the print:
As for the shoes, well, they're a pair of H&M quilted flats and to be honest I only wore them indoors. When I went walking the pig I had on a pair of warm boots. There's too much snow for flats. I'm currently curled up in bed because after the flat owner left I started to feel poorly and although I was supposed to go to school (would have been heading out in twenty minutes), I'm staying home. I sure hope I'll feel better tomorrow. But for now, goodnight (afternoon).

Oysters and Love

Yesterday the boy & I went to celebrate our 2 and a half year anni and we went to Zdenek's Oyster Bar in the Prague center. I am a HUGE fan of sea food, love it love it love it, so it was a special night for me. I wish I could turn back time and repeat that night all over again. It was SO GOOD. I was supposed to go to a bday party afterwards but was so stuffed that we decided to go home and watch movies instead...
I realize I haven't been posting outfit posts here in a while. It's because winter lighting is REALLY horrible and results in crap pictures. Below is an outfit I wore some two weeks ago. Stradivarius wooden wedges. Mango jeans. H&M coat. Stradivarius bag. Elle hat. Rome gloves. It's really hard to keep cozy and warm AND still look stylish. When the temp gets really low and I have to travel by trams and all, I have no use for heels. But when I'm just off to the pub that's down the street - well, that's a different story. They must think I'm nuts...

Shoe storage, a new semester and whatnot

If you've read this blog before, you'll know I have a passion for shoes. Having this hobby means I like to collect shoes. Now, my collection is definitely not the biggest or most impressive but I love the shoes I have and also love getting new shoes. I currently have about 340 pairs. And a tiny tiny rented apartment. This leads to a bit of a problem when it comes to shoe storage. hence the picture above (*I also have some shoes stored under the bed). It's not the best solution but given my circumstances, I think it's not so bad. However, my lack of space means that I've been buying less and less shoes as I have literally no place to put them...
An outfit I wore last week to work. Was very inspired by Jane Bennet from The Lizzie Bennet Diaries when it came to the hair style. (Sweater is from Tezenis and dress is H&M)
I'm on my way to school in a little bit and today is the start of a new semester (still have so so SO much to get done from the last one, ops) but I just had to show you this relaxed piggy. I envy him. (I wish I could stay in bed too!) Well, here's to a great Monday & wish me luck in getting a pass from an essay I'm handing in today. Xo, MsV.

Post-uni Shopping Day

As I may have mentioned before, I had an exam yesterday. (Still don't know the results which is infuriating!) And because my uni days haven't been exactly going too smoothly, I decided to treat myself to some post-uni shopping. Hurray!

I stopped by a Zara store (a different - a furtheraway one - than I usually go to) and bought these two pairs of shoes. The first pair - a cutesy pair of flats with an embroidered mustache - was a tough decision whether to get them or not. They were the last pair - and in my size - and cost only 300 crowns. So I bought them because I was afraid if I hadn't I would regret it. On to the second pair: a lovely pair of wedges. I was thinking about getting them about two weeks ago but then thought they were still too expensive and that I would wait and risk it and of course, they disappeared from my Zara shop (my meaning the closest to my flat). I was sad and thought I'd never get them. But - ha! - they had them over at the Chodov shopping mall and waaaay cheaper too. Good thing I waited!

Right after my exam and before I went to Zara, I stopped by one of my favorite thrift shops and thought I'd just take a look. I was very lucky and scored not one but two very lovely dresses. I think in a way I was inspired by my new favorite vlog: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. I am in love/awe of Jane. She always has such beautiful dresses with the little bows and everything. The two dresses I bought kinda reminded me of her. For the first dress (which is by Dunnes btw) it had to be the button detailing on the back of the dress. Really awesome right?

For the second dress it was the print.I first though it was mushrooms but its probably just circles. It doesn't matter because whatever it is, it's pretty darn cute.

Last but not least I stopped by over at Sephora and bought the Lady Gaga perfume Fame. I have wanted it for ages and now it was on a special Valentine's Day (oh wow, is it already February?!) sale. So I was pretty happy on my way home with all my lute but then I came home and what awaited me? Bloody pig-monster somehow got in the fridge (it has a safety belt on it) and ate everything and made a huge huge huge mess. So, yeah, that kinda sucked. Now I'm not speaking to Dracul and am seriously thinking about a possible solution. He's bored at home and needs more space and I think he will be an outdoor pig soon. But how to solve that??? I really don't know what to do. Something will have to change..

Inspired by..

The photo above got me thinking. Can you really label a length like this. I don't agree. For one thing, midi lengths are back in style go to call them "old-fashioned" doesn't seem right. Another thing, it all depends on HOW you wear whatever you're wearing and also WHERE you are wearing it to. A swimsuit cover up wouldn't be sluttish or whoreish, now would it? Furthermore, what does "asking-for-it" mean?? Asking for what? Anyways, according to the picture, if I were to accept the length titles, I wear skirts/dresses somewhere between provocative-cheeky-flirty. These are the lengths that I think look best on me. (Most often I'm probably cheeky.) Though I do sometimes go for longer lengths and I own a pair of high waisted very short shorts. And I also wouldn't mind wearing the skirt pictured below:
And the hat. The look is from Ulyana Sergeenko and though I would wear a different top (something less bra like), I adore both the chicness and seductiveness of this particular outfit. See? Size doesn't matter!
Next up on my "inspired by" list is the BB cream by L'oreal. I just bought it yesterday so am wearing it today for the first time but I adore it. (I couldn't find the product image anywhere, so the one above is the predecessor to the new bb cream.) What impressed me most when I was deciding to buy it or not was that it comes out white out of the tube and by rubbing it it turns into the skin tone color. I use the color "light" and so far am happy with my purchase.
Last on today's list is this print inspired by Wes Anderson's movie The Royal Tenenbaums. I love Wes Anderson! His magical world never fails in brightening my mood. Boy did it need lifting! I need to rewrite THREE essays and have two major exams ahead plus had to postpone one exam until the summer term. Can you say STRESS? But that's life with it's ups and downs and staying inspired helps make it all better.

Casual Friday?

A very casual day today. Wearing an oversized tee/tunic/dress from Reserved, H&M tights, Zara boots (which you can't see). It feels like a Friday today. And I've been listening to She & Him all day. But then I found this hilarious video on youtube of Zooey singing with her "band" Muchausen by Proxy from the movie Yes Man. Best video ever. It's been a pretty awesome day...
Oh and my camera takes really weird photos, like the one below. I look like a ghost!
